General Requirements:

  • Previously Requested Appointment, as each process is individual.
  • Visa Request Form, duly completed and signed by the applicant.
  • Original passport with at least six (6) months left of validity.
  • Certificate of Vaccination against the Yellow Fever in case of travel to at-risk zones. People under 18, or over 65, and those who cannot be vaccinated must show a medical certificate (in English or Spanish).
  • Confirmation of visa payment, where applicable.

Regarding bank transactions or "on-line" payments from a non-Austrian account: The applicant is required to pay any commissions that could arise from the transaction, otherwise they shall be asked to complete the payment with a second deposit.

 

IMPORTANT: The visa process is done in person, in the Consular Section in Vienna, prior to an appointment.

  2. A Letter of Request, addressed to the Consulate.
  3. As stated above, "Visa Request Form".

  7. A certificate of good conduct or background check, extended by the Federal Court of Justice of the country of residence. IMPORTANT: This certificate must be less than one month old at the time of presentation to the consulate. It must be translated, and both the translation and original must be legalised with the Apostille of the Hague.

IV. Transit visa

  1. Valid passport.
  2. Flight ticket (inbound and outbound) with record of the final destination.
  3. A recent passport format photograph (4.5cm x 3.5cm) with a white background and no glasses or headwear that covers the face.
  4. Transit through Bolivia is a maximum of 7 days.
  5. Flight pilots and crew will be considered travellers in transit.

v. Courtesy visa

This visa is given to State officials, employees of international organisations, cultural and religious personalities.

 

Each case must be presented to the respective Bolivian consulate and will be evaluated individually.

 

At minimum, the following will be required:

  1. A "Visa Request Form" duly filled and signed by the applicant, along with a recent, passport format photograph (4.5cm x 3.5cm) with a white background and no glasses or headwear that covers the face.
  2. A passport with at least 6 months validity.
  3. Proof of sufficient means of subsistence for the duration of the trip (bank statement, income statement, etc.)
  4. An international certificate of vaccination against the Yellow Fever (Depending on the region of destination).

Vi. Specific purpose visa (visa de objeto determinado)

A "specific purpose" visa  is required for:

  • Business trips or with a work contract
  • Working practice
  • Voluntary social service without remuneration
  • Marriage
  • Requesting temporary or permanent residence (for work or family)
  • Filming movies for commercial purposes

This visa is valid for thirty (30) days. Upon arrival to Bolivia, it can be extended for specific time periods by the General Direction of Migration in the first two weeks of stay.

 

Requirements:

  1. A Letter of Request.
  2. A "Visa Request Form" duly filled and signed by the applicant, along with a recent, passport format photograph (4.5cm x 3.5cm) with a white background and no glasses or headwear that covers the face.
  3. Flight Ticket (inbound and outbound) or a travel itinerary.
  4. Hotel reservation, or letter of invitation with a legal domicile in Bolivia.
  5. Proof of sufficient means of subsistence for the duration of the trip (bank statement, income statement, etc.)
  6. A certificate of good conduct or background check, extended by the Federal Court of Justice of the country of residence. IMPORTANT: This certificate must be less than one month old at the time of presentation to the consulate. It must be translated, and both the translation and original must be legalised with the Apostille of the Hague.
  7. Certificate of Vaccination against the Yellow Fever in case of travel to at-risk zones. People under 18, or over 65, and those who cannot be vaccinated must show a medical certificate (in English or Spanish).
  8. Documents accrediting the purpose of travel (work, cultural, artistic, sports performance contract, etc.). Social volunteers and technical cooperation personnel must include a certificate from the sponsoring organisation that accredits their condition.
  9. Travel authorisation for minors travelling alone.
  • In case of commercial filming, the interested party must obtain a special permit from the National Council of Bolivian Cinema (CONACINE).

Special Case, Marriage: Foreign Persons who wish to get married in Bolivia will also need and International Birth Certificate, and a Statutory Declaration of Single Status extended by the pertinent country´s Civil Registry Office; both legalised with the Apostille of the Hague.

Vii. Multiple entry visa

  1. Letter of Request.
  2. As stated above, "Visa Request Form".
  3. A certificate of good conduct or background check, extended by the Federal Court of Justice of the country of residence. IMPORTANT: This certificate must be less than one month old at the time of presentation to the consulate. It must be translated, and both the translation and original must be legalised with the Apostille of the Hague.
  4. Flight Ticket (inbound and outbound) or a travel itinerary.
  5. A copy of the Work Contract.

VIii. Student visa

The "Student Visa" is valid for sixty (60) days to foreign citizens travelling to Bolivia with the purpose of continuing their academic studies at the secondary, university, or other level. This consular visa enables the process a temporary permanence in Bolivia of up to three (3) years, extendable for similar terms by the General Directorate of Migrations of Bolivia.

 

In case of an "Exchange Student Visa," with or without State agreement, the visa length is for one hundred and eighty (180) days and enables the process of temporary permanence in Bolivia for a similar period by the General Directorate of Migrations of Bolivia.

  1. As stated above, "Visa Request Form".
  2. A letter of request, addressed to the Consular Section of the Embassy, identifying the applicant, explaining the purpose of travel, means of subsistence, and dates of the trip (entry and departure).
  3. Flight Ticket (inbound and outbound) or a travel itinerary.
  4. Hotel reservation, or letter of invitation with a legal domicile in Bolivia.
  5. Proof of sufficient means of subsistence for the duration of the trip (bank statement, income statement, etc.)
  6. A certificate of good conduct or background check, extended by the Federal Court of Justice of the country of residence. IMPORTANT: This certificate must be less than one month old at the time of presentation to the consulate. It must be translated, and both the translation and original must be legalised with the Apostille of the Hague.
  7. Document accrediting studies of the last level finished in School, Institute, University of the country where completed, legalised by the Apostille of the Hague.
  8. Original Letter of Acceptance, or copy legalised by the Apostille of the Hague, extended by the destination Institution. Applicable for a "Student's Visa" with private or State agreement.
  9. A copy of the inter institutional agreement, if applicable, where the type of student exchange is established; legalised by the Apostille of the Hague. Applicable for a "Student's Visa" with private or State agreement.
  10. Proof of Payment for the cost of the visa, once the request has been accepted, except for those given in virtue of State agreements.
